Shows in Cape Town

Artscape Opera House is South Africa's most important opera and performing arts showroom — the premier stage for Cape Town City Ballet, Cape Philharmonic Orchestra, and major national and international productions in a city that has been building a world-class performing arts culture for over a century. Artscape's extraordinary role as the cultural anchor of Cape Town's performing arts ecosystem and its diverse multi-venue programming create a performing arts destination of genuine South African national cultural significance.

The Baxter Theatre in Rondebosch is one of South Africa's most beloved and influential theatrical showrooms — a University of Cape Town-affiliated venue that has nurtured some of the most important South African playwrights, directors, and performers and presented productions that engaged directly with the social and political realities of South African life during and after the apartheid era. The Baxter's extraordinary commitment to South African stories and its remarkable track record of developing world-class theatrical talent make it one of the most creatively significant theatres in Africa.

The Masque Theatre in Muizenberg is one of Cape Town's most beloved community theatre showrooms — a dedicated performing arts venue serving the Southern Suburbs communities of Cape Town with a consistently rich program of drama, comedy, musical theatre, and children's productions. Muizenberg's extraordinary surfing heritage (it is one of the oldest surfing destinations in South Africa, with gentle beach breaks that have attracted surfers since the early 20th century) and the Masque's warm community theatre culture create a showroom of genuine Cape Town suburban cultural significance.
