About Duindigt Racecourse

Duindigt Racecourse in Wassenaar, near The Hague, is the Netherlands' most historic and prestigious horse racing venue — a dual-code facility that has hosted both thoroughbred flat racing and harness (trotting) racing since its establishment in 1906. The course, set within the wooded dunes of the Dutch coastal strip between The Hague and the North Sea, combines a turf flat track with an all-weather trotting oval, reflecting the Netherlands' long tradition of engagement with both disciplines. The Dutch Derby — the flat racing Classic run over 2,000m in June — is the centrepiece of the thoroughbred programme, while the harness racing calendar includes significant inter-national trotting fixtures that attract horses from France, Belgium, and Germany. Duindigt's programme is administered by the Nederlandse Draf- en Rensport (NDR), the national body responsible for both flat racing and harness racing in the Netherlands. The venue's location near Wassenaar's famous beachside dunes gives race days at Duindigt a distinctive coastal character that complements the European racing tradition.
