About Hipódromo de Maroñas

Hipódromo de Maroñas is Uruguay's premier thoroughbred racing venue and one of South America's most historically significant tracks, located in the Maroñas neighbourhood of Montevideo and operating continuously since 1907. The track, managed by the Maroñas company under a government concession that includes a casino and entertainment complex integrated into the venue, hosts Uruguay's national racing calendar including the Gran Premio Nacional — the country's Classic race and the oldest continually-run horse race in South American racing history. Maroñas's turf track operates year-round, benefiting from Montevideo's temperate Atlantic coast climate, and the mixed racing and entertainment model (casino gaming alongside racing) has made it one of Uruguay's most successful hospitality operations as well as its racing centrepiece.
