About Hippodrome de Casablanca

Hippodrome de Casablanca (Hippodrome d'Anfa) is Morocco's foremost horse racing venue and one of the oldest racing facilities in Africa, tracing its origins to 1914 when the French protectorate established the track in the Anfa district of Casablanca. The Société Royale d'Encouragement du Cheval (SOREC), which manages Moroccan racing under Royal patronage, operates the track as the centrepiece of Morocco's thoroughbred programme. The Grande Course des Pur-Sang du Maroc — Morocco's equivalent of the Derby — is the most prestigious race in North African horse racing. The track's 2,000-metre turf course and 1,600-metre inner loop host racing from October through June, with the summer programme at Hippodrome de Marrakech accommodating high-altitude conditions.
