The Nakhon Ratchasima Horse Racing Park (known locally as the Korat Hippodrome, after the city's informal name) serves as the primary provincial racing venue for Thailand's north-eastern Isaan region — the country's largest and most populous geographical region, historically less well-served by the Bangkok-centred racing network. The facility operates under the regulatory framework established by Thailand's gaming authorities and runs regular weekend meetings as part of the national simulcast wagering network, with bets accepted on races at both the Bangkok venues and the provincial programme. Isaan horse breeding has a distinct regional character influenced by the proximity to Laos and Cambodia — local breeders have historically maintained small-scale operations producing horses suited to the provincial tracks' shorter distance programmes, and the regional racing community has a character quite different from the elite Bangkok scene.
