Philippine Racing Club — San Lazaro

The Philippine Racing Club (PRC) is one of three licensed racing clubs in the Philippines and operates the San Lazaro complex in Metro Manila, historically the most prominent racing venue in Southeast Asia outside of Singapore. Philippine horse racing operates under a unique three-club system — the Philippine Racing Club, the Manila Jockey Club, and the Philracom-licensed clubs in Cebu and Davao — providing a domestic thoroughbred programme that operates year-round in the tropical climate. The PRC's racing programme features a blend of locally-bred thoroughbreds (with a strong strain of Philippine-specific bloodlines), imported horses from Australia and Japan, and occasional international challengers for the major national championship races. The Philippine Derby is the country's most prestigious race, with a history dating to the 1920s under the American colonial racing administration.
