About Sakhir Racecourse
Sakhir Racecourse in the Kingdom of Bahrain is the Gulf's third major thoroughbred racing facility after Meydan (Dubai) and King Abdulaziz Racecourse (Riyadh), operating a turf track in the desert climate of Bahrain's southern Governorate. Established in the early 2000s and operated by the Equestrian and Horse Racing Club of Bahrain, Sakhir hosts the annual Bahrain International Race Day — a day of Pattern-quality racing that attracts high-class international invaders from Britain, Ireland, France, and the UAE alongside the best of the local Gulf programme. The Bahrain Trophy (Group 3) is the track's flagship race and has attracted horses of the calibre that contested the Dubai World Cup card in the same season.
