Velká Chuchle Racecourse

Velká Chuchle Racecourse in the southwestern suburbs of Prague has served as the Czech Republic's primary flat racing venue since 1921, hosting the Czech Derby, the Czech Oaks, and the Czech 2000 Guineas — the three Classics that define the country's thoroughbred racing season. The right-handed turf oval, set in the wooded Chuchle valley, provides a scenic racing environment that reflects the European parkland track tradition, with a main grandstand that has been progressively modernised while retaining the architectural character of the inter-war period. Czech flat racing is administered by the Jockey Club Czech Republic and benefits from a programme that complements the country's jump racing tradition centred at Pardubice — the two venues together provide the Czech Republic with a complete national racing calendar spanning both flat and jump disciplines. Velká Chuchle's proximity to central Prague (approximately 8km from the Old Town) makes it the most accessible major racing venue in Central Europe outside of Vienna.
