Corach Rambler Wins the 2023 Grand National at Aintree

Corach Rambler delivered a commanding victory in the 2023 Randox Grand National at Aintree Racecourse on April 15, 2023, giving trainer Lucinda Russell and jockey Derek Fox one of the most coveted prizes in jump racing. The race, which has been run at Aintree since 1839 and spans approximately 4 miles 2½ furlongs over 30 fences including the famous Becher's Brook and The Chair, drew a field of 40 runners as is traditional for the National.

Corach Rambler, owned by the Hamish Macaulay-led ownership group, entered the race with strong ante-post support after a series of impressive staying chase performances. Lucinda Russell, who is based in Scotland, had prepared the horse specifically for the Grand National challenge — a race that rewards horses with jumping ability, jumping accuracy, stamina, and composure under the unique conditions created by Aintree's distinctive fences.

Derek Fox, who had partnered Corach Rambler for his key prep runs leading into the National, produced a patient and professional ride — settling the horse in a comfortable position through the early stages before producing him with a well-timed challenge in the closing stages to win with authority.
