About Hipódromo Chile

Hipódromo Chile in Santiago is the country's second major thoroughbred venue, providing an alternative racing programme to the Club Hípico across a year-round calendar. The track hosts the Polla de Potrillos — the Chilean equivalent of the 2,000 Guineas for three-year-old colts — and the Polla de Potrancas (the fillies' equivalent), making it a key Classic venue in the Chilean racing calendar. Hipódromo Chile's layout — a left-handed turf oval with a well-maintained racing surface — complements the Club Hípico's right-handed configuration, giving Chilean horses experience on both track directions before international competition. The venue has been the launch pad for several Chilean horses that subsequently competed in the Gran Premio Latinoamericano — the region's most prestigious international race that rotates between South American countries each year.
