About Binion's Gambling Hall
Overview
Binion's Gambling Hall is one of the most storied properties in American casino history. Benny Binion opened the Horseshoe Club at this Fremont Street address in 1951 and built a gambling philosophy — no bet limits, personal service to high rollers, and value food — that defined Las Vegas casino culture for a generation. Most critically, Binion's was the birthplace of the World Series of Poker in 1970, when Benny Binion gathered the world's best poker players for a freezeout tournament at the Horseshoe. The WSOP grew from that event into the largest poker tournament series in the world.
The property is now operated by TLC Casinos and continues as a casino without a hotel (the hotel portion of the building has been separately managed or closed at various points). The gambling hall retains the no-frills, serious gaming atmosphere that made Binion's famous.
