About El Cortez Hotel & Casino

Overview

El Cortez Hotel & Casino holds the distinction of being the longest continuously operating hotel and casino in Las Vegas — it has been in operation at the same East Fremont Street address since 1941, surviving every economic cycle that shuttered dozens of competitors. Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel was briefly an owner in the 1940s before selling his stake to buy land on the Strip for the Flamingo Hotel. Kenny Epstein's family has maintained the property with a commitment to authentic vintage Las Vegas atmosphere, single-deck blackjack, and low minimum bets that cater to the serious player rather than the casual tourist.

The El Cortez was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013, recognizing its architectural and cultural significance to Las Vegas history. The Cabana Suites tower (built in 1952) is one of the oldest standing hotel buildings in Las Vegas.
