About Emerald Queen Casino
Overview
Emerald Queen Casino is operated by the Puyallup Tribe of Indians in Fife — a city adjacent to Tacoma in Pierce County. The Puyallup Tribe are among the most economically sophisticated tribal governments in the United States, having famously and controversially reached a $162 million settlement with the US government in 1989 that resolved longstanding treaty fishing rights disputes and provided capital for the tribal economic development that ultimately included casino gaming. The settlement was the largest of its kind in US history at the time.
The new Emerald Queen Casino in Fife (relocated from its original location on a ship in the Puyallup River) opened in 2021 with a comprehensive new gaming floor, hotel, and resort amenities that significantly upgraded the Puyallup gaming experience from the former floating casino to a modern land-based facility.
