About Four Bears Casino & Lodge

Overview

Four Bears Casino & Lodge is operated by the Three Affiliated Tribes (the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation — collectively the MHA Nation) on the Fort Berthold Reservation in New Town, on the shores of Lake Sakakawea in north-central North Dakota. The MHA Nation is the descendent community of the "Village Tribes" who met Lewis and Clark during the Corps of Discovery expedition of 1804-05 — an encounter documented in the expedition journals as one of the most important diplomatic and informational exchanges of the entire journey.

The MHA Nation's reservation economy has been dramatically transformed by Bakken oil development in the early 21st century, and the Four Bears Casino operates alongside substantial oil revenue as part of the tribe's diversified economic base. Lake Sakakawea is one of the largest reservoirs in the United States and the region attracts fishing and outdoor recreation visitors who complement the gaming visitor base.

Gaming & Lodge

700+ slot machines and 20+ table games. The lodge provides on-site accommodations on the shores of Lake Sakakawea. The casino's rural location means it serves primarily local and regional visitors rather than a broader tourism market.
