Four Winds New Buffalo is the flagship property of the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi Indians' Four Winds gaming enterprise and serves as the primary casino destination for the enormous Chicago metropolitan market that lacks legal casino gaming within city limits. Located in New Buffalo — just across the Indiana state line from northwest Indiana — the casino is approximately 75 miles from Chicago's downtown and draws millions of gaming visitors from the Chicago-area population annually.

The property is the closest Michigan tribal casino to Chicago and has been one of the most successful casino openings in the Midwest since it opened in 2007. The Pokagon Band's federal recognition was restored in 1994, and their reservation land in southwest Michigan supports the gaming enterprise that has become the tribe's primary economic driver.
