About Golden Gate Hotel and Casino

Overview

Golden Gate Hotel and Casino is the oldest hotel in Las Vegas, operating continuously at the corner of Fremont Street and Main Street since 1906 — when Las Vegas was a newly platted railroad town. The property's 99-cent (later raised to $1.99 and then higher, but still iconic) shrimp cocktail has been served since 1959 and became one of the most famous value offers in casino history. TLC Casinos (Derek Stevens and Mark Advent) have operated the Golden Gate since 2012 and undertook a major renovation that expanded the property while preserving its historic character.

The Golden Gate sign — an elaborate LED display at 1 Fremont Street — anchors the western end of the Fremont Street Experience. The hotel's 143 rooms include some of the smallest (but most historically authentic) rooms in Las Vegas.
