HIT Casino Nova Gorica

HIT Nova Gorica is one of Europe's most remarkable casino operations: a collection of six themed casino venues on a single campus in Nova Gorica, a Slovenian city that sits directly on the Italian border — its streets literally divided by the Schengen frontier from the Italian city of Gorizia. The border location has been the making of HIT's business since its founding in 1974, when Slovenian authorities (then under Yugoslav jurisdiction) deliberately established gaming rooms to attract Italian visitors from a country where casino gambling was heavily restricted.

The six venues — Park, Perla, Rose, Flamingo, Crystal, and the flagship Casino Perla — together offer several thousand slot machines and hundreds of table games across an enormous gaming campus. Perla, the largest, is a true mega-casino by European standards with multiple floors of gaming, a hotel, spa, conference facilities, and entertainment venues. The HIT Group has invested heavily in non-gaming amenities — including the Perla Hotel, several restaurants, and a bowling centre — to position Nova Gorica as a full-service resort destination rather than just a gaming destination for day-tripping Italians.

The opening of the Schengen Zone in 2007 removed border controls entirely, making the journey from Trieste (50 km) or Udine (70 km) in Italy a seamless car trip. HIT Nova Gorica remains one of the top-10 casino operations in Europe by gaming positions and revenue.
