About KwaTaqNuk Resort & Casino

Overview

KwaTaqNuk Resort & Casino ("kwa-TAK-nuk") is operated by the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes on the southern shore of Flathead Lake — the largest natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi River. The property is Montana's most complete tribal gaming resort and benefits enormously from its setting on one of Montana's most spectacular natural landmarks.

The name KwaTaqNuk means "where the water emerges" in the Salish language, honoring the natural connection between the lake and the tribal homeland. The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes (CSKT) have lived in the Flathead Valley for centuries and are one of the most administratively sophisticated tribes in the United States, operating the resort as part of a diversified tribal enterprise economy.

Gaming

The casino features video lottery terminals and Class II gaming machines, along with a limited selection of live gaming. Montana gaming compacts with tribal nations allow for smaller-scale gaming relative to western states like Nevada or Washington. The property focuses on the resort and tourism experience more than pure gaming volume.

Hotel & Setting

The lakeside hotel offers Flathead Lake views from guest rooms and is one of the most scenic hotel locations in the entire Pacific Northwest. The resort's marina gives guests direct access to Flathead Lake for boating. Nearby Glacier National Park (approximately 90 minutes north) and the Mission Mountain range make KwaTaqNuk a genuine destination resort for outdoor tourism.
