Mazatzal Hotel & Casino is operated by the Tonto Apache Tribe on their reservation in Payson, Arizona, nestled in the Pine Country along the base of the Mogollon Rim. "Mazatzal" is a Nahuatl word meaning "land of the deer," an apt description of the scenic mountain environment surrounding Payson. The casino serves the Rim Country market as well as weekend visitors from the Phoenix area who travel the AZ-87 Beeline Highway to escape the Valley heat.
