Overview
Plaza Hotel & Casino occupies the most historically symbolic site in Las Vegas — the former Union Pacific Railroad Depot at the corner of Main Street and Fremont, where Las Vegas was officially founded in 1905. The Plaza opened in July 1971 when the depot was demolished to make way for the casino, and the property has anchored the western gateway of the Fremont Street Experience ever since. Jonathan Jossel (CEO since 2013) undertook major renovations that added a rooftop pool and entertainment area that has become one of Downtown's most popular venues.
The Plaza's 1,000+ room count makes it one of the largest hotels in Downtown Las Vegas, and its full-service poker room and broad gaming floor make it a destination for serious gamblers who prefer Downtown's lower-minimums and more casual atmosphere over Strip pricing.
