Prairie Knights Casino & Resort is operated by the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe on the Standing Rock Reservation in Fort Yates, on the banks of the Missouri River (Lake Oahe) in southern North Dakota. The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe rose to global prominence in 2016-17 during the Dakota Access Pipeline protests — the largest gathering of Native American tribes in modern history — which drew international attention to the Standing Rock Reservation and the tribe's sovereignty concerns.
