About Tropicana Las Vegas
Overview
The Tropicana Las Vegas opened in April 1955 and operated for 69 years as one of the most storied properties on the Las Vegas Strip — nicknamed "The Tiffany of the Strip" for its elegance in the 1950s and 1960s. It was the setting for numerous films including Casino and Ocean's Eleven. The property closed permanently in April 2024 and was demolished to make way for a new MLB baseball stadium (planned Oakland A's ballpark) at the corner of Las Vegas Blvd and Tropicana Avenue.
Historical Note
The Tropicana was famous for its Folies Bergère show, which ran from 1959 to 2009 — the longest-running show in Las Vegas history. The iconic glass dome and lagoon-style pool made it one of the most photographed properties in Nevada.
