About Casino de Spa
Casino de Spa carries the extraordinary distinction of operating since 1763, making it one of the oldest casinos in continuous operation in the world. The casino is located in the town of Spa in the Liège province of the Belgian Ardennes — the very town that gave the English (and most European) languages the word "spa," thanks to its famous natural mineral springs that attracted European nobility for centuries.
The current casino building, a handsome 19th-century structure on the Place Royale, offers roulette, blackjack, punto banco, poker, and slot machines in an intimate setting that reflects the town's genteel history. The casino has survived wars, occupations, and ownership changes but retains a character that is unmistakably rooted in its role as the entertainment centre of a great 18th-century watering place. The famous Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps Formula 1 circuit is located just a few kilometres away, and casino business spikes sharply around the Belgian Grand Prix weekend.
