About Grand Casino Knokke
Grand Casino Knokke holds a singular position in European casino culture: it is simultaneously a functioning gaming house and one of Belgium's foremost art institutions. The casino's permanent collection includes murals and works commissioned from some of the 20th century's most celebrated artists — most famously René Magritte's "The Enchanted Domain" (a panoramic surrealist mural painted in 1953 that covers the entire ceiling of the ballroom) and Keith Haring's vast wall painting created during the 1987 Knokke Art Festival.
The casino occupies a mid-century modernist building in Knokke-Heist, Belgium's most exclusive coastal resort — a town nicknamed "the Belgian Saint-Tropez" for its concentration of luxury villas, high-end boutiques, and well-heeled Belgian and Dutch summer visitors. The gaming floor offers roulette, blackjack, punto banco, and slot machines, but the Magritte ceiling is as much a draw as any game on the floor.
