Crown Melbourne

Crown Melbourne occupies a massive riverside site on the Southbank Promenade and is the entertainment and gaming centrepiece of Victoria. Opened in 1994 (with the main complex completed in 1997), the complex encompasses a casino floor spanning over 220,000 square feet, three luxury hotels — Crown Towers, Crown Promenade, and Crown Metropol — as well as more than 60 restaurants and bars, a theatre, and a nightclub precinct.

The casino holds a Melbourne gaming monopoly under its State Government licence and operates approximately 2,500 gaming machines and 540 table games, including baccarat, roulette, blackjack, craps, and sic bo. Premium and VIP rooms known as the Mahogany Room and Diamond Room cater to high-roller clientele from Australia and Asia.

Crown Melbourne is operated by Crown Resorts, which was acquired by Blackstone in 2022 following a series of royal commissions that led to remediation undertakings and enhanced regulatory oversight. The property remains Australia's most visited tourist attraction after the Sydney Opera House.
