Casino Wien is perhaps the world's most elegantly housed casino: it occupies the state rooms of the Palais Esterhazy, an 18th-century aristocratic palace on Kärntner Strasse in Vienna's First District — the city's pedestrian luxury shopping boulevard and one of the most refined urban streetscapes in Europe. Casinos Austria has operated the venue since 1968, carefully preserving the palace's original Baroque interiors while integrating a fully modern gaming operation.
