Overview
Altira Macau opened in May 2007 as Crown Macau — a joint venture between James Packer's Crown Limited and Lawrence Ho's Melco International. The all-suite luxury tower in Taipa Island was designed to serve the premium VIP market with an intimate, exclusive atmosphere that contrasted with the mass-market scale of Cotai. The property was rebranded Altira Macau in 2010 after the Crown/Melco joint venture was restructured. The 38-storey tower houses 216 suites (no standard rooms), a Michelin-starred dining programme, and gaming facilities catering primarily to junket VIP and premium mass players.
