About Casino Lisboa
Overview
Casino Lisboa is the casino that built modern Macau. Stanley Ho opened the Sociedade de Turismo e Diversões de Macau (STDM) Lisboa Casino in 1970 under the gaming monopoly he held until 2002, and for three decades it was simply the casino in Macau — the destination where the entire Asian gambling world converged. The distinctive circular tower with its layered architecture became one of the most recognised building silhouettes in Asia.
Today SJM Holdings (the successor to STDM) operates Casino Lisboa alongside the adjacent Grand Lisboa tower. Despite the competition from Cotai Strip mega-resorts, Casino Lisboa retains a loyal base of Peninsula gamblers who prefer its classic atmosphere and long-standing staff relationships.
